Penny D. Boyce

PENNY D. BOYCE - WRITER

Penny D. Boyce is the project’s grounded heart of gold.

Penny studied Film and Television at Wintec before starting her career as a Producer/Editor/Camera Op at Waikato/BoP regional channel TV Central.

After TV Central shutdown, Penny and her colleague purchased as much as the station’s gear as they could, and founded AF Productions, moving operations from Matamata to Hamilton.

Since then Penny has produced and directed television commercials and promotional videos for various clients around the country.

Penny is a long serving employee of the Waterboy Charity helping kids get into sport by organising and coordinating events to create stronger communities.

In 2017, Penny was awarded the 48 Hour Film Festival award for Best Director in the Hamilton region with her film Dead- beats.

She has since gone on to co-produce the Ryan Jackson directed supernatural/thriller short From Shadow, as well as directing and acting in episodes of the locally loved web series, Mount Doom.

Penny served as 1st AD/ Production manger of another Waikato indie sci-fi feature AU3.

Penny is also very on various boards in Waikato’s rainbow community.
